Joe Lattanzi: Campbell High School
Lattanzi was one of the original members of the Atlanta Dugout Club.
Atos Dante "Joe "Lattanzi was never far away from baseball. He was one of the founding members of the Atlanta Dugout Club in 1962. The organization later evolved into the Georgia Dugout Club.
A Bronx, N.Y. native, Lattanzi was a big fan of Piedmont College and played for the Lions in the 1940s. After college, Lattanzi was employed by the Cobb County Board of Education for 31 years at Campbell High School as an American history teacher, a coach and assistant principal.
In 2002, Campbell named its baseball field in his honor.
A scout for professional baseball teams, Lattanzi was a Navy veteran and a court bailiff for the Cobb County Court System.
Lattanzi was inducted into the Piedmont College Athletic Hall of Fame in 1981. In 1990, he received the Alumni Service Award from the school. Lattanzi was president of the Piedmont Letter Club and a former president of the Alumni Association.
He passed away August 27, 2002.
