Tommy Barber: DeKalb College

Barber was inducted into the Georgia Dugout Club Hall of Fame in 2013.

Tommy Barber is no stranger to the Georgia Dugout Club. The former Georgia State baseball letterman and longtime coach of DeKalb College (which later became Georgia Perimeter), was inducted into the Georgia Dugout Club Hall of Fame in 2013.

A native of Atlanta, Barber has been active in the Dugout Club for four decades. He played baseball at Georgia State in the early 1970s and then served briefly as an assistant coach for the Panthers. He went on to coach in the high school ranks at North Fulton and Southwest DeKalb High Schools and then at DeKalb College (Georgia Perimeter), where he also served as an instructor. Georgia Perimeter merged with Georgia State in 2016.

In 1996, Barber was an assistant competition manager for baseball during the Centennial Olympic Games in Atlanta. He continues to be highly involved in baseball as a well-known sporting goods dealer.

"We are very proud to see Tommy Barber, a Georgia State baseball alumnus and a tremendous supporter of our program, inducted into the Georgia Dugout Club Hall of Fame,” said former Georgia State baseball coach Greg Frady, also a GDC Hall of Fame member. “I can't think of anyone who deserves it more. Tommy is a tremendous ambassador for the Dugout Club, for Georgia State and for baseball in this state.”
