
Walton High School baseball coach Shane Amos received the 2025-26 Georgia Dugout Club Ethics in Coaching Award.
Walton's Amos receives GDC Ethics in Coaching Award
When Walton High School head baseball coach Shane Amos introduced Donnie English last season as the 2024-25 Georgia Dugout Club Ethics in Coaching Award winner, he didn't know a year later the roles would be reversed.
Amos, one English's prized pupils when the younger played under his mentor at Osborne, received the 2025-26 Ethics in Coaching Award, the highest award given by the Georgia Dugout Club. Both Amos and English are GDC Hall of Fame members.
Now, the two are recipients of the Ethics in Coaching Award,
And like his coach, Amos has left a lasting mark on the high school baseball circuit.
"I am fortunate to have had great coaches and players along this journey to make my coaching career joyful and fun," Amos said. "I have to give God all the honor and the glory for my success."
He attended West Georgia where he worked with the athletic department as a trainer for the football and baseball teams. He worked under longtime West Georgia baseball coach Archie White.
Amos has coached at Pebblebrook and Walton. He boasts a 527-265-1 coaching record. Most of his wins have come in his 30-plus seasons at Walton. He guided the Raiders to state titles in 2007, 2016 and 2025 while playing in Georgia's highest classification.
He was inducted into the Georgia Dugout Club Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2018.
His teams have won seven region titles, made 21 postseason appearances and played in two state semifinals.
Amos has been named Georgia Dugout Club Coach of the Year five times. He was named Atlanta Braves 400 Club Coach of the Year in 2007, while his 2016 state championship squad was named the Atlanta Braves 400 Club Team of the Year.
In 2016, the American Baseball Coaches Association named Amos its Diamond Baseball Southeast District 3 Coach of the Year.
Amos served as the Georgia Dugout Club President in 2016.
