Team Georgia tops Louisiana in High School Baseball National Championship Series
Team Georgia made the most of 10 hits and got dominant pitching from Joe Soto (Brookwood) and Aiden Moore (Hillgrove) to roll past Louisiana 10-3 Friday in its opener at the High School Baseball National Championship Series at Creighton Prep Field in Omaha, Nebraska.
Walker Hudson (Ware County) led the 10-hit attack with three hits, including one in Team Georgia's seven-run second inning. Branson Crawford (North Hall) finished with two hits and four RBIs, while Jack Rees also added a pair of hits.
Walker Killimett (Walton), Isaiah Galason (Houston County) and Cason Fletcher (Lowndes) each added singles.
Soto allowed three runs on five hits in 3 1/3 innings to earn the victory, while Moore worked the final 3 2/3 innings allowing just four hits.
Team Georgia will play Massachusetts at 5 p.m. on Saturday, July 5, then play California on 8 p.m. in a pair of back-to-back games. Both games will be played at Omaha's Charles Schwab.
After Friday's games, Team Georgia and Team California are both 1-0 in Bracket C play. California defeated Massachusetts 5-2. Georgia will need to defeat Massachusetts and California to advance to one of Sunday's semifinal games.
