Mike Power has put together an impressive coaching resume and has been a winner at just about every stop. The longtime coach was inducted into the Georgia Dugout Club Hall of Fame in 2017.
Power holds a career coaching mark of 614-258 entering the 205 season which includes head coaching stints at Harrison (1990-1998), Daphne, Ala. (1998-2002), Northview (2003), Roswell (2004-2017) and Kings Ridge Christian (2021-present). He was also an assistant coach for six seasons under David McDonald (also a Georgia Dugout Club Hall of Fame member).
In the summer of 2017, Power resigned from Roswell and became an assistant coach at South Forsyth. In the fall of 2020, Power took the head baseball job at Kings Ridge Christian Academy.
Power started the baseball program in 1990 at Harrison. He guided the program to three region titles and the state baseball championship in 1998 before stepping down and taking over at Daphne High School. He spent four seasons at the south Alabama school where he led the program to a 124-27 record, a pair of state titles (2001 and 2002) and a state runner-up finish.
His 2002 squad finished third nationally, and Power was named Alabama Coach of the Year in 2001 and 2002. He coached former West Virginia quarterback Pat White on his 2001 state championship team.
He guided Roswell to a state runner-up finish in 2013 in the state's highest baseball classification.
Power was named state Coach of the Year in 1998, and he was region Coach of the Year in 1996, 1997, 1998 and 2014.
“I feel blessed in so many ways,” Power said. “I’ve had so many great players who have played for me and so many great assistants who have coached with me. It’s a humble feeling.”
The Buffalo N.Y. native played collegiately at the University of Buffalo where he led the program to an NCAA regional.
He has sent countless players to college and several have been drafted, including former first-round picks Corey Patterson and Adam Everett.
"His character and work-ethic separate him from everybody else," longtime assistant and former player Ben Sutter said. "I’m blessed to be able to see him from the outside as a fan, then as a player and now a coach.”
Power has also served as a professional scout, working as a professional scout for the Pittsburgh Pirates from 2001-2007. He has also scouted for the Minnesota Twins.
His work hasn't been just limited to high school. He was an assistant for Team USA 18U in 2003, 2007 and 2008 in which two of those teams won silver medals.
