Julian Mock: Murphy High School

Mock was one of the original members.

Julian Mock was one of the founding members of the Atlanta Dugout Club in 1962. The organization later evolved into the Georgia Dugout Club.

Mock was a successful high school coach at Southwest and Murphy High Schools in Atlanta. His teams at Murphy won four consecutive Atlanta City championships and two state championships before he became a territorial scout for the Cincinnati Reds for 24 years.

From 1990-1997, Mock was the scouting director for the Reds. He is also the founder and director of the oldest baseball camp in the Southeast region, the Southeastern Baseball Camp in Alabama.

A book, “The Man in the Dugout: The Story of Julian Mock,” has been written about Mock’s life and his love for developing young baseball players.
