Bob Jones: Perry High School

Jones was inducted into the Georgia Dugout Club Hall of Fame in 2011.

Bob Jones is no stranger to baseball in Georgia. The longtime coach in Middle Georgia was inducted into the Georgia Dugout Club Hall of Fame in 2011.

Jones compiled a 336-179 record during his career, serving as head coach at Claxton, Perry, Southeast Bulloch, Crisp County and Houston County. He is perhaps best known for guiding Perry to a 28-2 mark and a state championship in 1991.

Jones retired from Houston County in 2003, then served as an assistant coach at First Presbyterian Day. He helped FPD to a state title in the Georgia Independent Schools Association in 2010.

A native of Dawson, Jones played in high school at Terrell County and helped the school win a state title in 1965. He was a first round pick by the Minnesota Twins in the 1966 Major League Baseball Draft. He played four seasons of minor league ball with the the Twins and Astros.
