David Joiner had a strong baseball coaching career at McEachern. He was inducted into the Georgia Dugout Hall of Fame in 2016.

Joiner was McEachern's head baseball coach from 1995 to 2012. Before that, he was an assistant from 1983-94. The longtime coach finished with 260 victories.

He led the Indians to 14 state playoff victories, three region titles and an appearance in the state quarterfinals in 2011. He retired after the 2012 season.

“First of all, David is an outstanding baseball man,” Harrison coach Mark Elkins told the Marietta Daily Journal. “He’s done a great job since he took over. His teams will always play hard and do a sound job. I have a lot of respect for him. He’s a good person who takes his responsibilities as a mentor very seriously.”

Joiner did a lot of for baseball during the offseason as well. He organized a summer wooden bat league that helped players continue to sharpen their skills.

“Dave's meant a lot to baseball in the area,” Walton coach Shane Amos told the Marietta Daily Journal. “His wood bat tournament is a great part of the high school summer leagues and brings a tremendous amount of talent and people to the county. He did a great job at McEachern and has been a great ambassador for baseball."
