Don Corr: Jonesboro High School
Corr was inducted into the Georgia Dugout Club Hall of Fame in 2000.
Don Corr was one of the most successful high school baseball coaches in Clayton County history. Although he retired from coaching in 2005, Corr remains an ambassador for Georgia High School baseball.
He began his baseball coaching career in 1984 at Forest Park High School as an assistant baseball coach. After one season, he took the head baseball coaching position at Jonesboro High School where he guided the program for 21 seasons. He left his coaching mark at Jonesboro with 325 victories. He compiled a 325-236 record.
He retired from coaching in 2005 and moved into administration.
A native of Bay St. Louis, Miss, he was a seven-time letterman in basketball and baseball at Saint Stanislaus College Preparatory School, a two year letterman in baseball at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and a one year letterman at the University of Southern Mississippi.
He graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1983 with a B.S. Degree in Athletic Administration and Coaching. He completed his Master’s Degree in School Counseling at The State University of West Georgia in 1997. He received his Specialist Degree in Education with an emphasis in School Administration at Lincoln Memorial University in 2000.
Corr sent 47 players to college and seven played professionally.
The longtime coach was honored numerous times as Clayton County Coach of the Year. The Atlanta Braves 400 Club selected him as Metro Atlanta Coach of the Year in 1988. The Georgia Dugout Club selected him to lead the East All-Star Team in 1988 and 1997.
Corr has been a member of the Georgia Dugout Club, American Baseball Coaches Association and National High School Baseball Coaches Association. He has served as a Georgia Dugout Club Vice President for three years and served on the Executive Board of the National High School Baseball Coaches Association as the District 3 Chair.
Outside the high school setting, Corr was very active in American Amateur Baseball Congress (AABC), Team Georgia and associate scouting. He served on the State Board for AABC during the summer season. When joining the Team Georgia Staff in 1998, he helped start the inaugural Junior Team Georgia in 1999.
