Chuck Campbell: Henry County High School

Campbell was inducted into the Georgia Dugout Club Hall of Fame in 2011.

Chuck Campbell helped turn Henry County's baseball program into a state contender during his tenure with the Warhawks. He was inducted into the Georgia Dugout Club Hall of Fame in 2011.

In 26 seasons of coaching Cross Key Christian Academy, Henry County and Jonesboro, Campbell finished with an overall record of 433-217. His greatest success was at Henry County where he compiled a 371-179 mark from 1987-2004.

He guided the Warhawks to five region titles. Campbell was named Class 3A Coach of the Year in 1996, and he coached the Georgia Dugout Club All-Stars in 1995 and 1999.

"Coach Campbell has great recall," longtime assistant Troy Baker told the Clayton News Daily in 2004.

"He can remember what happened in a game two or three years ago without checking the score book. He is also a class act. He will beat you by 10-runs in five innings, and then e-mail you or call you the next day to lift you back up."

Campbell helped more than 80 of his players continue their baseball careers in college. A handful signed professional contracts.

"Chuck Campbell took over this team 18 years ago and turned it into one of the elite programs in the state," former Henry County Athletic Director Chuck Miller told the Clayton News Daily in 2004.

Campbell also was the head softball coach at Henry County where he compiled more than 250 victories.

He was a pitcher in high school at Walter F. George in Atlanta, then he played collegiately at South Georgia and Mercer. He retired from Henry County in 2004, then served as co-head coach at Jonesboro in 2008 and 2009 before officially retiring for good after the 2009 season.
